Music at The Cathedral

The mission of the people of the Cathedral is to love, know and serve God as a community that: Gathers in joyful worship [and] Proclaims and lives the Good News of Christ as servants in the world . . .

Anthem Schedule - Year C - 2009/2010

The music program at the Cathedral provides many members of our congregation with ways to enhance their worship and proclaim the Good New of Christ.

Adult Choir
The adult choir sings each Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service from the Sunday after Labor Day through Trinity Sunday and is open to all adults aged sixteen and older. The ability to read music is helpful but not required. The choir rehearses on Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., and again at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. In addition to singing on Sunday mornings, the choir also participates in special services and concerts. If you are interested in joining the adult choir, please contact Ken Brown.

Choristers
The Choristers is open to all youth in sixth through ninth grades. The Choristers practice on Sundays from 12:15 to 1:00 p.m. in the Peace Chapel. The Choristers sing approximately one Sunday a month from September to mid-June. They also sing at special services and, with the Children’s Choir, often perform an end-of-the-year musical for the congregation. If you or your child is interest in joining the Intermediate Choir, please contact contact Michael Morgan (410-256-0377).

Children’s Choir
The Cathedral Children’s Choir is open to all children in first through fifth grade. The children’s choir practices on Sundays from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the Peace Chapel. The children’s choir sings approximately one Sunday a month from September to mid-June. The choir also sings at special services and, with the Choristers, performs an end-of-the-year musical for the congregation. If you or your child is interested in joining the Cathedral Children’s Choir, please contact contact Michael Morgan (410-256-0377).

Cathedral Consort
The Cathedral also has a "Cathedral Consort" which is comprised of adults aged sixteen and older who volunteer their time and talents to add instrumental music to the worship service. All instruments are welcome (instruments used in the past have included flute, clarinet, trombone, percussion, tuba, guitar and strings). Although music is arranged according to ability, a reasonable level of proficiency is required. Volunteers are expected to rehearse music prior to rehearsals and to attend rehearsals and performances. There is no established schedule for Consort performances, but any and all instruments will be called on from time to time during each church year. If you play a musical instrument and would like to join the Cathedral consort, please contact Ken Brown.
